Plus-sized model MIA TYLER is speaking out about controversially skinny
models on the runway and larger ladies that are leading the charge in the
fashion industry.
"It's sad that they have to be bulimic and do whatever they can to be that
skinny," Mia tells ET of the women who push the limits to be stick-thin. "I
don't know what the percentage is of America, but most women are a size 12
and up. Not all of us are poor; we have money and we want to buy nice
clothes, so I think it's better that we get to see larger ladies on the
runway."
Mo'Nique's bold and sarcastic stand-up routine landed her a starring role in
the hit stand-up comedy film "The Queens of Comedy," which was released by
Paramount Pictures and also aired on the Showtime Network. "The Queens of
Comedy" also toured the country as a live comedy concert, which became a hit
album, of the same title, and went on to earn a GRAMMYR nomination for Best
Spoken Comedy Album.
Mo'Nique has become a role model for voluptuous women everywhere, proving
that you don't have to be a size 0 to be sexy and fabulous. Her musings on
life are featured in her book titled Skinny Women are Evil! published by
Atria Books, a division of Simon & Schuster, due for release this spring. In
addition, she has a signature fragrance making its debut at Christmas.
Camryn Manheim came to the attention of television audiences when she won a
Best Supporting Actress Emmy for her role as lawyer Ellenor Frutt on David
E. Kelley's acclaimed law drama 'The Practice'. Hoisting her award in the
air and exuberantly declaring, "This is for all the fat girls!", the actress
won over millions of viewers, many of whom may not have been aware of her
existence before the awards ceremony.
In addition to acting, Manheim also authored 'Wake Up, I'm Fat', a memoir
that began life as a one-woman show at New York's Public Theatre. By turns
funny and excruciating, it details the actress's transformation from
wholesome middle American to tattooed, dozen-earringed California biker, her
struggles with those who told her she'd have to lose weight to fit in, and
the trials and tribulations of making it in the entertainment industry. ~

Toccara Elaine Jones is an American model and television personality.
Toccara is no stranger to reality television. America's Next Top Model put
Toccara Jones on the map; She was the eighth contestant eliminated on the
third season of the UPN series America's Next Top Model.
Since her appearance on America's Next Top Model, Toccara has been on the

Stage actress Lillian Russell is an ideal beauty at about 200 pounds. She
first appeared in light opera in 1879, but didn't achieve stardom until
1899, when she performed at Weber and Fields' Music Hall, and later with her
own Lillian Russell Opera Company. She was noted for her flamboyant
personality and for her love of jewelry.
The quintissential "plus size"Hollywood diva, that sex siren tag she carried throughout her notorious career
Queen Latifah represents an intelligent cross-section of hip-hop influences.
Though she is a forthright advocate of her race's struggle, she is also the
daughter of and brother to policemen. Black Reign, in fact, is dedicated to
the death of that same brother: "I see both sides. I've seen the abuse and
I've been the victim of police who abuse their authority. On the other side
you've got cops getting shot all the time, you got people who don't respect
them at all". While a little too strident to live up to the Arabic meaning
of her name (Latifah equates to delicate and sensitive), Queen Latifah
remains one of the most positive role models for young black women (and men)
in hip-hop culture: "Aspire to be a doctor or a lawyer, but not a gangster".
As one of the singles lifted from Black Reign advocated: "UNITY (Who You
Calling A Bitch?)'. Following a lengthy hiatus owing to acting commitments,
Latifah returned to recording with 1998"s Order In The Court.
Emme: supermodel, television host, best-selling author, lecturer and
clothing designer. No wonder People magazine selected her twice as one of
the "50 Most Beautiful People." The accolades don't stop there. Ladies Home
Journal chose her as one of the "Most Important Women in America" and one of
the "Most Fascinating Women of the Year." In addition, she was honored as
Glamour magazine's "Woman of the Year."
Emme's views set a new standard of beauty both here and abroad. Emme proved
that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes when she penned her first book
TRUE BEAUTY (Putnam/Perigee) in 1997. Emme's second book entitled, LIFE'S
LITTLE EMERGENCIES (St. Martin's Press) was released in 2003.
Jill Scott was raised and lives in north Philadelphia, the big city that
feels like a town. She remembers her grandmother "taking a bath at five
o'clock every morning, and you would hear this real back-porch hum." From
some deep, throaty place, Jill recollects: "Mmmm-hmmm. HmmMMM"-the sound of
cross-armed deacons and Mahalia Jackson. "We would gather at the door and
listen," Jill continues. "My mother would cry."
